{mom comes to the windy city :: day one}
first stop: sprinkles.
had lunch at the cutest cafe 'tavern on rush' yummy soup and sandwich.
rush street is where all the upscale ritzy stores are so naturally all the streets are extra fancy. flower pots and trees everywhere. its my favorite street.
the chicago tribune building: as chicagos first skyscraper, the neo-gothic broadcasting headquarter was built in 1925. The 40-story building is a Chicago landmark and perhaps best known for the many historic stones and artifacts embedded in its limestone exterior. there are pieces from all over the world, including something from all 50 states. thought it was cool that they used granite from the temple quarry for utah. the day was spent on the "magnificent mile" aka michigan ave. we literally shopped til we dropped. at one point we were laying down on benchs in the water tower place mall. haha we may or may not have taken a nap there for a few minutes. no one there knows us so we felt just fine about it.
incredible sunset.
the bean at night time.
fav pictures of the day..
dessert from 312. for dinner we had the most amazing meal..it was seriously heaven in my mouth. homemade tortelloni stuffed with butternut squash covered in a brown sugar glaze. favorite meal so far.
